Making a Difference Annual Luncheon

On December 6, 2007, Planned Parenthood held its Annual Luncheon at the Hyatt Regency in Newport Beach. Bill Wood, Board President, served as this event’s chair and provided the welcome speech to approximately 150 Planned Parenthood supporters in attendance. The event raised over $15,000 and featured keynote speaker, Priscilla Smith, the lead counsel in the landmark reproductive justice case, Gonzales v. Carhart.

Empowerment Luncheon

Young women in our community need all the information, education and support we can provide them with to reach their fullest potential. Events such as the Empowerment Luncheon are critical to the success of the Young Women’s Health Conference (YWHC). Our first Empowerment Luncheon raised over $10,000 in support of the YWHC which reaches over 400 young women every year. Our keynote speaker was Rialto Unified School District Superintendent Edna Davis-Herring. The event drew prominent supporters such as San Bernardino Mayor Patrick Morris, Ann Knickerbocker representing Senator Gloria Negrete McLeod, and Juan Lopez representing Assembly Member Wilmer Amina Carter.

Haute Wired

Now in its 11th year, this year’s event,” White Haute” proved to be the “hautest” event of the season raising over $90,000 in support of Planned Parenthood’s Hotline Programs of PPOSBC which provide real time answers to young people in response to their reproductive and sexual health questions…in confidence – with confidence.

This year’s all-white attire event, chaired by Lance Brown took place on the gorgeous lawn at Shady Canyon Golf Club in Irvine and featured private cabanas, hosted bar, dining, dancing and silent and live auctions.

Young Women’s Health Conference

The 2007 Young Women’s Health Conference provided resources and information on a wide range of health topics to over 400 young women in San Bernardino empowering them with the knowledge and resources to make wise decisions about their health, well-being and future endeavors. As part of building healthy communities, Planned Parenthood is committed to providing young women with the tools necessary to prevent unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.

In the past three years over 900 high school girls from San Bernardino Counties have participated in the YWHC, entitled “A Day of Q & A”.

This year’s conferences will take place on October 18th, 2008 at California State University, San Bernardino. Go to www.adayofQandA.com for more information or to become a sponsor today.
